Collard and Marubeni-Komatsu agree to BTCC sponsorship deal 03/04/2008
2008 is the British Touring Car Championship’s 50th year and the season kicked off on 30th March at Brands Hatch. Racing in car number 25 is BMW 320si driver, Robert Collard.
Robert is racing for team Motorbase, along with fellow team mate Steven Kane. Originally making his BTCC debut in 2000, and winning the Independent Championship in 2003, he has 20 wins under his belt.
Collard has been involved with a number of sponsorship partners over the years, but this year has agreed to a sponsorship deal with the UK’s sole distributor of Komatsu equipment, Marubeni-Komatsu.
Marubeni-Komatsu has provided Robert with a number of tracked excavators, wheel loaders and bulldozers, for use at his Hampshire business, R. Collard Ltd.
Robert has run R. Collard Ltd since 1991, specialising in demolition, site clearances, bulk excavation and recycling. By investing in the best construction equipment and training all staff to the highest possible standard, R. Collard Ltd can provide all of their services in a professional and cost effective manner.
The company is committed to protecting the environment, only operating fuel efficient, equipment and ensuring that all materials are recycled where possible. The dedicated recycling yard at Eversley receives all recyclable materials and processed soils by the company’s transport fleet.
The 2008 British Touring Car Championship is scheduled for an impressive 76 hours of ITV network airtime on Sunday afternoons, re-plays on Monday evenings and Saturdays, covering 10 race tracks between March and September.
Robert Collard comments on his forthcoming season and the strengthening relationship between himself and Marubeni-Komatsu Ltd:
“It’s great to be back in the championship in its 50th year. Marubeni-Komatsu Limited has provided me with a great opportunity by sponsoring my team and car. The BMW E90 is a fantastic car to drive and will give me an excellent chance of doing well during the season."
He continues:
"Working in partnership with such a strong company brand gives me confidence that 2008 will be a great year for the team and a new beginning for Marubeni-Komatsu Ltd in entering the world of motorsport”.
