New PC1250-8 excavator, friendly to the environment and to your pocket

Komatsu’s new PC1250-8 hydraulic excavator is designed to be more environmentally friendly and help reduce operation costs. It also delivers outstanding productivity and a very comfortable working environment.

The PC1250-8 features a Komatsu SAA6D170E-5 engine. Part of the innovative ECOT3 range, this engine complies fully with EU Stage IIIA emissions regulations while delivering high power and low fuel consumption. For further fuel savings, the machine is fitted with a four-level economy mode to help the operator work in the most fuel efficient manner possible.

In addition, the PC1250-8 has an electronically controlled variable speed fan drive to reduce both fuel consumption and environmental noise. Combined with a large hybrid fan and low-noise muffler, it ensures the PC1250-8 conforms to the European Noise Directive 2.

At the same time, the new excavator delivers outstanding performance. It offers high drawbar pull and steering force for maximum mobility, plus large digging force up to 479 kN. A two-mode setting for the boom allows the operator to choose between smooth operation for gathering material and maximum power for more effective excavating. Furthermore, a heavy lift mode gives the operator 10% more lifting force when required.

Productivity isn’t just about performance, so the PC1250-8 is also designed for maximum reliability and easy maintenance. It has a reversible fan to facilitate radiator cleaning plus centralised engine checkpoints to speed up machine inspections. The cool-running hydraulic system is protected by the most extensive filtration system available and the interval for changing the hydraulic oil filter has been doubled to 1000 hours. Furthermore, the Vehicle Health Monitoring System (VHMS) monitors all major components and enables remote analysis of the machine.

Of course, operator comfort hasn’t been neglected. The large, comfortable cab features a fully reclining seat with headrest and a high-capacity air conditioner as standard. It is also pressurised to prevent dust entry. The improved cab damper mounting system reduces noise at the operator’s ear to 73 dB(A)LPA and vibration at the floor to 115 dB(VL).

The PC1250-8 is available in backhoe and loading shovel configurations. As with Komatsu’s other products, the excavator and all the components in it are completely designed and manufactured by Komatsu to ensure the best possible performance.
